The Servox® SP drive has a modified planetary gearbox and, with a coaxial arrangement, allows medium gear ratios of approx. 12-20. Despite this, the overall length is only slightly longer than that of a standard planetary gearbox of the same power. These drives can be built economically up to torques of around 150 kNm. The higher gear ratio gives the press manufacturer a cost advantage by using a smaller servomotor in conjunction with a more cost-effective control unit.
