Shipper / Receiver – DESCH Canada

The Shipper / Receiver coordinates and administers shipping and receiving activities to ensure timely and accurate flow of items at our Canadian facility in Cambridge, ON.

Primary Responsibilities

  • In accordance with internal policies and procedures, ensure the receiving and shipment of various types of goods and materials are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Prioritize all activities to meet deadlines with regards to processing outgoing shipments and receiving/delivering goods.
  • Use of SAP system to generate shipping documents
  • Preparing required customs documents for export shipments including Bill of Lading (BOL), Commercial Invoice (Proforma), Canada Customs Invoice, and Certificate of Origin (CUSMA)
  • Picking/delivering materials as they are required to assembly and CNC work stations
  • Complete inventory transactions in excel to maintain inventory accuracy. This includes receiving material and issuing material
  • Perform cycle counts as requested by the Inventory Control Specialist to maintain accurate inventory
  • Call carriers’/freight forwarders to arrange pick-ups for local/global shipments
  • Prepare Fed Ex and UPS shipments
  • Carry out correspondence with various vendors including shipment set ups, delivery instructions and estimated delivery expectations
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices and other documents; record shortages and reject damaged goods
  • Unpack and route goods to appropriate storage areas
  • Ensure work area is clean and safe throughout the shift and at the end of each shift
  • Ensure self and others work in a safe possible way and reporting injuries, occurrences or near misses to Supervisors
  • Ensure that all the required personal protective equipment is worn at required times and in the required areas
  • Undertaking of special duties as required
  • Build shipping containers / boxes as necessary

Experience & Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Shipping and receiving experience an asset
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Forklift and crane experience
  • Knowledge of shipping, customs requirement, and North America Free Trade Agreement
  • Knowledgeable to work with FIFO and learn manufacturing tools
  • Highly detail oriented with the ability to perform duties accurately and efficiently
  • Demonstrate proficient problem solving techniques
  • Able to work well independently and on a team basis

Technical Sales Engineer – DESCH Canada

DESCH is looking for an energetic and motivated Technical Sales Engineer for our Canadian division! The Technical Sales Engineer is responsible in selling our unique combination of products and services directly to our retailers. Not only are they accustomed to solving customer’s most complex problems and closing large deals, this individual will lead consultative, technical-focused discussions with external and internal audiences in support of new partnerships, implementations and integrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with current and prospective clients to develop and grow strong relationships
  • Prepare and present technical proposals and quotations
  • Proactively develop new business opportunities
  • Work with production on launching new products
  • Constant follow-ups with shop floor and production, reporting internally and communicating with customers consistently on appropriate schedules
  • Work with service team to assess repair needs to create a report and quote for customers
  • Understanding our machining & assembly capabilities to engage with prospective relevant clients

  • Strong technical background to include a working knowledge of aerospace, manufacturing of gear boxes, medical and small components
  • Experience in SAP is preferred
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and sectional drawings

QA Technician - DESCH Canada

Overview

The Quality Assurance Technician supports the QA department and ensures all incoming parts and final products are met with high quality standards. The successful individual has a high level of attention to detail and prides themselves in their meticulous work and accuracy.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for receiving, inspecting and acceptance of parts
  • Quality inspection as needed with micrometers, bore gauges, caliper, high gauges, CMM, and other equipment
  • Perform final inspections and dock audits
  • Support and solve customer concerns and inquiries
  • Clearly communicate results of inspections to QA Manager and team
  • Assist in carry out of internal auditing
  • Verify shipments contents for accuracy, condition, and quality

 

Experience & Skills

  • Post-Secondary Education/Quality Assurance Certificate
  • 3-5 years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with CMM programming (PC-DMIS) is required
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • High competency and understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001, AS9100, aircraft industry requirements, and general inspection practices.
  • Understanding of Core tools (PPAP, FMEA, APQP, SPC, MSA)
  • Understanding of 5S, 8D and other quality system
  • Forklift/Reach Truck license preferred
