We are mourning for our long-time managing partner Alexander P. Desch

Our long-time managing partner Alexander P. Desch, passed away on January 21, 2023 at the age of 76. Alexander P. Desch led the company for more than 40 years.
Alexander P. Desch successfully managed the transition and at the same time the departure and renewal of the company DESCH Antriebstechnik. During his time as managing partner Alexander P. Desch has been a visionary and shown courage. 55 years ago, after the sudden death of Dipl.-Ing. Heinrich Desch jun. in 1967, Alexander P. Desch as grandson of the company founder took over the company with approximately 500 employees at the age of only 21. For 42 years he successfully led the company as a specialist for drive and system solutions. Alexander P. Desch continuously promoted the technical innovations in the DESCH Group and thus definitively expanded the product range.
Thanks to his great commitment, constant innovation and internationalization, the DESCH company has achieved its current global relevance. Alexander P. Desch's entrepreneurial activities were characterized by a sense of responsibility, teamwork and consistent employee development - while always keeping the well-being of the workforce in mind.
At an early stage and posessed with a vision, Alexander P. Desch initiated the generational change in the company. In 2009, he handed over the management of the company to Hendrik Desch and thus to the fourth generation of the family. Olaf Desch joined the management team in 2013 and took over the reins of the company in 2022. Alexander P. Desch continued to support the company with advise after his active time. Since 2019, the Japanese Nidec Shimpo Corporation has been the majority shareholder of DESCH Antriebstechnik.
Alexander P. Desch's honorary activities included 33 years as a member of the Board of Management of the German Drive Technology Association. For decades, he represented the interests of medium-sized companies and played a key role in shaping the national and international trade fair landscape of the German Drive Technology Association. He was also active for many years in the regional business association Westfalen Mitte e.V. and in the Gemeinschafts-Lehrwerkstatt Arnsberg GmbH (i.e. Community Teaching Workshop) on the advisory.
In his private life, Alexander P. Desch was also actively involved in many organizations and clubs. He was particularly involved in the Neheim-Hüsten Horse Breeding, Riding and Driving Club as a passionate horse rider and president. For this he was honored as honorary president after his decades of commitment. Other examples of his honorary commitment are the Rotary Club Arnsberg, the Kirmesgesellschaft Hüsten (i.e. local fun fair club), the Jägerverein Neheim 1834 e.V. (i.e. local hunting club) and the Schützenbruderschaft St. Georg Oelinghauser Heide 1875 Dreisborn e.V. (i.e. local marksmen club).
