Reliable gearbox repair for large-scale plants in the energy and open-cast mining sectors

For one of Germany’s largest electricity producers, Nidec DESCH is responsible for the refurbishment of various gearboxes in the power range from 265 to 2000 kW, including:

• Spur and planetary gearboxes
• Bevel and bevel-helical gearboxes
• Bevel-worm helical gearboxes

These gearboxes are used in the drive trains of open-cast mining conveyor systems. Depending on the level of contamination, the gearboxes—some weighing up to 17 tonnes—are cleaned using sand or dry ice blasting and then disassembled. After a complete inspection, they are refurbished with new rolling bearings and seals. If required, gearing components are replaced and/or modifications to the oil supply system are carried out. Finally, the gearboxes undergo a test run on one of our test benches, followed by coating with weather-resistant paint.

Nidec DESCH also refurbishes three-stage planetary gearboxes (100 kW – 160 kW) that are used in the drive trains of the world’s largest bucket-wheel excavators. Here too, after complete disassembly of the planetary and worm gear stages, the inspection and subsequent professional refurbishment are carried out in proven Nidec DESCH quality.

Collection and delivery of all gearboxes are carried out by our own Nidec DESCH lorry when required or necessary.
